i upgraded to a '25 equinox activ bc i wanted an infotainment system upgrade as well :-) it looks like it's a really bad idea based on what i'm currently experiencing lol

i had the '10 corvette zr1, a '17 equinox lt, and a '22 camaro zl1. i'm a girl who values good music in my car so my usb flash drive came in handy always. i had my songs in folders for whenever i wanted to listen to a certain type. no issue at all throughout all those yrs, except now with the latest model. that's all parts confusing and frustrating.

the new '25 equinox system only supports playlists now, so goodbye to all the folders i manually curated!! 😏 now i have to change them into playlists and honestly it's troublesome bc a random song plays after i exit the car, turn it off, and turn it back on when i get back. the system shows "indexing" onscreen and then the last song i played rather the last playlist i was enjoying is gone. ☠️ isn't it supposed to just continue with the playlist i was playing when i left??? isn't that supposed to be the standard in all cars???

any others experiencing this issue? how can i troubleshoot? thank you pls help a girl out.

I had the same problem earlier, try moving all your songs to the thumb drive, then select the songs for windows media player, create a playlist, and save it. After you save it, move the playlist to the thumb drive.

I feel you on this one. GM really fumbled with that playlist-only setup. People still use USBs with actual folders, FFS! Maybe you can update to Android Auto or CarPlay if you want better playlist control until they drop a fix. I don't think they will tho, unless they're lurking in this forum LOL.

Im sure lots of people with the 2025 Equinox are annoyed by the new infotainment system. It only supports playlists now, so your old folder setup wont work, which is a pain in the ass. The 'indexing' and random song playing after you restart the car is a common issue though, and it doesnt remember the last playlist like it should. For me , the easiest fix right now is using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to play your music instead

Absolutely, I can relate to that. I experienced something similar last month in my friend's brand new 2025 Equinox. We had loaded a USB stick with different folders for our road trip playlist, but it just threw everything under "Unknown Playlist." Each time we restarted the car, it seemed to forget what we were listening to and would start reindexing everything again.

In the end, I just connected my phone and used CarPlay, and it worked perfectly after that. It's not the best solution, but it was definitely way less annoying.
