I couldn't shift my 2024 Equinox LS to neutral and got the message "Shift to Park." So long story short, I had it towed to dealership. They cleared the message and told me it's just like an electronic glitch and offered no other explanation. Has someone encountered something similar with their ride?

It sounds like you're dealing with that "Shift to Park" message, and the inability to shift into neutral is a pretty typical issue with GM shifters. Often, it's due to the park release switch or maybe just a little electronic glitch.

Has it happened more than once, or was it just that single occurrence? Has the dealer looked into any software updates or service bulletins related to it?

If this issue keeps popping up, you might end up needing to fix the shifter assembly eventually. How's everything else performing?

Happened to a my Malibu last year and it turned out as the park switch inside the shifter. If it comes back, push for a deeper look or ask about TSBs tied to that glitch.

One more thing to think about is system voltage. If the battery's weak, it can trigger odd behavior in various electronic modules on newer vehicles. Have you run into any other electrical issues lately?

It's usually an electronic snafu with the shifter module or software, nothing mechanical and so dealers most times just clear it and hope it doesn't come back, but sometimes a software update or recalibration is needed too

Electronic glitch is a dealer's way of trying to avoid trying to figure things out. Keep an eye on the problem and take it to the dealer if it happens again, and if it happens again, be persistent to check and recheck what might be the issue. It's under warranty, so they should deal with it.
