What mpg are you getting?

Equinox LT owner here, 2025 model which i own for about a month. In that time i racked up over 2k miles and averaging around 30 mpg a number I'm fine with, but I have two questions: what is your mpg and why are the older models more economical?

Actually, this has been a thing with the Equinox for a while now. Older models, especially the ones with the 1.5L turbo before some emissions tweaks, were tuned a bit leaner, which gave them better mpg. The newer models had to adapt to stricter emission standards, so Chevy adjusted the fuel maps and sometimes even gearing, which hurts mileage a little. Also, newer ones have more weight from extra safety tech and soundproofing. Your 30 mpg sounds about right for the newer models though, so nothing to worry about.

I've seen a lot of people reporting around 30 mpg on the 2025 equinox, so you should be right in the expected range. and as for older models being more economical, it mostly comes down to weight, engine tuning, and transmission programming. same here, I'm hovering around 30 mpg and I'm find with that

Mine is about 25-27 mpg. My best was 37 that one time.

It usually depends on how I'd drive for a specific day, say If I wanna be a jackass and swerve my ass through everything or just drive like I'm high as a kite. But I average around 25 mpg.

Your 2025 Equinox seems to be performing admirably at 30 mpg! Regarding the older models, the small discrepancy might result from modifications to the drivetrain and transmission, which can affect fuel efficiency

Although I've never owned one, I've seen others report comparable MPG figures, so you're definitely in the ballpark

Mine is 32, and I too am very happy about it. I guess older cars a far more economical since most of them are light and kinda small and less powered engines.
