Transmission potential problems

I've had my 25 Equinox for about 6 months raking almost 20k miles on it. it drives well and does everything i ask of it expect for certain conditions when the transmission feels like its confused which gear to select. In most cases it would hold on toa gear and let the revs go higher than usual. This is my first modern chevy so Im not sure what to expect

hey my 2025 equinox has 20k miles in 6mo runs great! but sometimes the transmissions like uh which gear?? im confused and sticks to one and reviving high. its my first chevy. is this normal or what?? maybe others experienced it too??

That issue w the tranny tho i think u better get that looked into. i get it if u think its normal since ur new to chevy. id suggest tht u take note of the conditions when it happens. a visit to your dealer is a good idea too.

I agree with @a.ham on taking it to the dealer. I've had my 25 equinox for a few months now and haven't experienced something like what both of you are describing. Could it be different driving habits or a problem?

I think it's part of how these newer transmissions are tuned from the factory, being aimed at fuel economy more than the feel. its not necessarily a sign something is wrong though, but if gets worse then mybe you can panic then

Before thinking it's broken, notice if it happens more in specific situations (uphill, light gas, turns). If your Equinox has an 'L' mode or sport setting, try using that for quicker shifts.
If it's new or getting worse, just chat with a service advisor and describe what you're feeling!

I get what you're saying. Mine does the same when cruising slow, like it's second-guessing itself. It might just be how it's tuned, but it's definitely worth having the dealer log it in case it turns into something worse later.

Modern Chevys, can have transmissions that feel a bit indecisive at times, especially under light throttle or hilly conditions. What you're describing isnt uncommon... the 6speed (or 9 speed, depending on your model) is tuned for fuel efficiency, so it can hang onto gears bit longer than expected. Have you noticed if it happens more in certain drive modes or at specific speeds? Might be worth checking if theres a software update or having a dealer scan it just in case.

Chevy's new transmissions are all about saving gas, which can make the shifting feel a bit wonky sometimes. If your car's shifting funny, a software update might sort it out.
