Well I just bought my wife the latest chevy lt midnight edition AWD for our anniversary... I told her next time I buy her one it's gonna be when it's our silver wedding (haha thats still 15 years from now). Currently has just 1200 miles and i figured thats possible coz hey... its a brand new car
All those plans were threatened by today's dilemma. I usually do the maintenance of the car coz I wanna be hands on with it but Im currently stuck after seeing the CEL light up on the way home this morning after our trip to the grocery store. I think its relevant to say that its still very cold here in north dakota. I checked the Mychevy app which is very useful most times but then it says theres probably a cooling/powertrain problem. That doesnt align with my findings coz i was still able to reach home safely and pick up my kid and wife from soccer practice. The vitals were fine.
Again i usually do the maintenance and i wanted to check more whats going on and thats when i found the P05AE code so i went and hit up the auto dealer i bought it from as i had became friends with their service manager. One call he was able to mention very matter of factly that its an active shutter issue. He said its likely frozen water so i went and thawed it out (yes theres like a block of ice there i can use to make a milkshake haha). After that the active shutter worked again but the code is still there. So i figured id clear it manually and it did become fine, but then i realized this might not be the best option to give your wife if youre residig in cold regions coz i feel like this active shutter here is a batch problem and likely people around the northern regions where its icy and snowy are gonna experience this or might have already.
Anyway I really like the car and how it had been working so far... My wife of course love the sleek look coz its an upgrade from her old car which she used throughout college lol that sedan was begging to be given up already. She likes the display too. Beyond the superficial i had fun driving it around myself, but Im just so frustrated it might cost so much to replace parts. Sure i got an extended warranty but yeah probably so expensive to replace the DIC thats why so I thank myself kinda for thinking ahead.
